Integration with Telegram
The integration with Telegram allows you to answer customer questions coming from Telegram messenger directly from Chaport. To integrate Chaport with Telegram, you should connect your Telegram bot to your Chaport account.
What is a Telegram bot?
A Telegram bot is a special Telegram account that doesn’t require an additional phone number and is operated by software. Users can interact with bots by sending them messages and commands. After the integration, all the customer messages sent to your Telegram bot will be automatically forwarded to your Chaport account, and your customers will be able to read the operator responses in Telegram.
How to create a Telegram bot:
- Go to your Telegram account.
- Find the user with the name @BotFather.
- Click on
Start
to chat with @BotFather. - Type
/newbot
to create a new bot. - Choose a name for your bot that will be displayed for the users.
- Choose a unique username of the bot, by which your customers can find it in Telegram.
- Done!
How to connect your Telegram bot to Chaport:
- Go to Settings → Integrations in your Chaport account.
- Press
Connect
next to the Telegram icon. - Go to your Telegram account.
- Copy the token you received while chatting with @BotFather.
- Paste the copied token to the
Telegram token
field. - Press
Connect
. - Done!
Please note: You can connect unlimited Telegram bots to your Chaport account.
How to determine that a message was sent from Telegram:
You will see a small Telegram icon next to a visitor avatar in the chat list. Also, on the right side of the app for operators, there is the “Visitor Info” section, which shows visitor name, email, etc. The “Website” field in this section will contain “Telegram”.
How the connected channels will be displayed in the widget:
On the desktop, the chat widget will remain unchanged. On mobile devices, when you click on the widget, a menu with a list of the connected channels will appear. If you don’t want to show the connected channels, contact our support team, and we’ll remove them from the widget.
